The beautiful Diamond Beach in Penida Island, Bali, Indonesia

Here is a list of some of the best beaches in Bali:

  1. Kuta Beach – Located on the west coast of Bali, Kuta Beach is one of the most popular beaches on the island. It offers a wide range of services such as beach clubs, restaurants, bars, surfing lessons, and equipment rentals.
  2. Seminyak Beach – Just north of Kuta, Seminyak Beach is known for its luxurious resorts and high-end restaurants. It offers services such as beach clubs, spa treatments, surfing lessons, and equipment rentals.
  3. Nusa Dua Beach – Located on the southern coast of Bali, Nusa Dua Beach is a popular destination for families and couples. It offers services such as water sports, beachside massages, and private cabanas.
  4. Jimbaran Beach – Famous for its seafood restaurants, Jimbaran Beach is also a great spot for swimming and sunbathing. It offers services such as beachside dining, seafood barbecues, and massage services.
  5. Sanur Beach – Located on the eastern coast of Bali, Sanur Beach is a more relaxed and peaceful alternative to the busy beaches in the south. It offers services such as snorkeling, fishing, and boating tours.
  6. Lovina Beach – Located on the northern coast of Bali, Lovina Beach is known for its black sand beaches and dolphin watching tours. It offers services such as boat tours, snorkeling, and scuba diving.
  7. Echo Beach (Canggu) – Once the place to be for a beachfront barbecue, Echo Beach has now transformed into one of the trendiest oceanfront spots in Canggu. With its prime location along the black sands facing the ocean, the beach has become a popular destination for surfing and boasts several shabby-chic bars. The view of the ocean is absolutely breathtaking, attracting beachgoers in their Brazilian-cut bikinis, sun-kissed surfer dudes, and Bali dogs with their expat owners out for an evening stroll. During the day, this community-driven coastline is a playground for sun and surf, while at night it transforms into a lively party spot. Bring an acoustic guitar for some extra street cred and don’t forget the dog treats.
  8. Thomas Beach – In recent years, a few trendy restaurants in Uluwatu have opened up at the entrance to Thomas Beach, making it no longer a hidden gem. Nevertheless, it still remains one of the most peaceful beaches on the Bukit peninsula and perhaps even the best in Bali. To reach this secluded stretch of white sand, visitors must traverse a gravel lane followed by a winding set of stairs, but the effort is well worth it. The beach is bordered by turquoise waters and striking boulders that jut out from the sand, making it a picturesque paradise.
  9. Keramas Beach – Keramas Beach, situated on Bali’s east coast, is a breathtaking location with Mount Agung behind you and strong waves in front of you. The beach is well-known for Komune Beach Club, a standalone beachfront venue. The club sits on the black sands and has a spectacular infinity pool with an incredible view of the sparkling ocean. Enjoy your time at Komune by lounging on the beachfront day beds, snacking by the pool, or staying at the adjoining Hotel Komune and watching the night-time surf sessions at dusk. If you’re lucky enough to be there during a surf competition, you may see some of the world’s top surfers.
  10. Amed Beach – Amed offers a unique and striking beach view with its black sands and towering volcanoes in the distance. Though not your typical tropical scene, it is still a must-see destination due to its awe-inspiring landscape that is perfect for capturing holiday memories. Amed is also renowned for its spectacular coral reef, making it a popular spot for diving and snorkelling. Additionally, visitors can take a short trip to Tulamben to see the sunken US Liberty Shipwreck, which is a thriving underwater ecosystem with stunning aquatic life that’s definitely worth capturing on camera.
  11. Bingin Beach – Watch out for the eco-friendly signboards, or follow the groups of trendy surfers with sandy feet and surfboards in tow. Bingin Beach is a bohemian refuge that can be difficult to locate unless you are familiar with the area or know where to go. This beach, which is perched on a cliff, is popular with Bali’s sunbathers and surfers due to its perfect waves and small sandy coves that are ideal for swimming at low tide. The path to and from the beach is uneven and rocky, necessitating a certain degree of fitness, but the effort is worthwhile. The cliffside is dotted with affordable beach lodgings, making it a great place for budget vacations or a simple sunset picnic. Additionally, there are some excellent healthy cafes in the area, ideal for refueling after a surf session.
  12. Sundays Beach Club – Sundays Beach Club at The Ungasan Clifftop Resort, located in the southern part of Bali, is another exceptional beach destination. This private white sand bay is tucked away and offers breathtaking turquoise waters and an offshore coral reef. The beach club is situated at the bottom of a dramatic cliff face and can be accessed via an inclinator. Prepare yourself for a delightful dining experience featuring island-inspired dishes, and be sure to stick around until sunset to enjoy the magical bonfires on the beach. To make the most of your visit, indulge in water-based activities such as snorkelling, stand-up paddle boarding, and kayaking in the crystal clear waters.
  13. Medewi Beach – Medewi is a hidden treasure on Bali’s western coastline, providing a glimpse of Bali’s pre-tourism days. The coastline is dotted with palm trees and remote villages, with vast rice paddies stretching out towards the horizon. Unlike other beaches in Bali, Medewi is not the place for an action-packed day, but instead a perfect place to escape the hustle and bustle of city life. However, if you are an avid surfer, this isolated spot is a must-visit for its uncrowded and world-class waves. Even though it is not necessary to fly to get here, it is far enough away from the crowds to ensure a quieter surfing experience. Make sure you stay until sunset, as Medewi’s west-facing location makes for an enchanting golden hour.
  14. Balangan Beach – Balangan Beach, situated on Bali’s Bukit Peninsula, is popular among surfers and those seeking a relaxed beach experience away from the crowded tourist hotspots. Visitors can swim in the crystal-clear waters or bask under the sun on the soft, white sand while loungers and umbrellas are also available. This secluded area is not yet heavily developed, with only a handful of local warungs offering authentic Indonesian cuisine and refreshing Bintang beers. As Balangan boasts excellent waves for both amateur and experienced surfers, it attracts a laid-back crowd, including backpackers who appreciate the tropical ambiance more than the party scene.
  15. Blue Lagoon – The name of this place gives it away. Blue Lagoon, situated on Bali’s eastern shore, is a picturesque bay with clear blue waters, white sandy beaches, and a background of swaying palm trees. It is the quintessence of paradise. The bay is bordered on both sides by rocky hills and verdant knolls, making it an ideal location for capturing those all-important vacation photographs. In the center of the lagoon, snorkel and dive boats search for Nemo, as Blue Lagoon is home to lively coral reefs and abundant underwater fauna, a contrast to the peaceful sands and serene corners on the shore. If you’re ready to explore more beaches, Blue Lagoon is adjacent to Padang Bai harbor, where you can catch a boat to the Gili Islands, Nusa Lembongan, Lombok, and beyond!
  16. Padang Padang Beach – The breathtaking bay featured in the popular movie “Eat, Pray, Love,” where Julia Roberts falls in love with a Brazilian man, might look familiar to you. It’s likely that you too will be enamored by the bronzed surfer crowds and the tranquil waters of the cove that stretches out from the bright white beach. The bay is flanked by striking rock formations and boasts world-class waves. Despite being relatively small, Padang Padang is a magnificent beach located about 10 minutes north of Uluwatu. The best time to visit is during sunrise when you can witness the stunning natural beauty of Padang Padang before the influx of visitors arrives hoping to catch a glimpse of Ms. Roberts.
  17. Balian Beach – Balian Beach, with its magnificent waves, trendy dunes and hills, and an increasing number of expats and surf enthusiasts, attracts a stylish crowd. There are also new, bohemian cafes and bars that open frequently, all with a view of the world-class waves. Whether you prefer to take a leisurely stroll on the vast black sands, take on the waves, or unwind with a beer during sunset after surfing, Balian Beach has an undeniable appeal that draws us back every other weekend. Plus, it’s perfectly located on Bali’s western sunset coast.
  18. Suluban Beach – This idyllic location is located directly below the famous Single Fin bar and serves as the main entry point to the famous Uluwatu surf break. However, during low tide, Suluban Beach transforms into a hidden gem and an excellent spot for a secluded swim. The turquoise water is breathtakingly beautiful and set against a backdrop of stunning dramatic cliffs. To reach this little oasis, one must walk down the stairs at Uluwatu, through the caves, and onto the sand. It’s important to note that during high tide, this swimming spot is inaccessible, so checking the tide times before your trip is crucial, and don’t forget to bring your swimwear.
  19. Pandawa Beach – Pandawa Beach has garnered mixed reviews from visitors. While some appreciate the lively atmosphere with sun loungers and beach umbrellas readily available, others consider it too crowded and touristy. If you’re looking for a bustling beach with all the amenities within a stone’s throw, including Roosterfish beach club and several restaurants, Pandawa Beach is the place for you. However, suppose you’re seeking a deserted stretch of sand with no one around. In that case, we’ll share a secret that low tide brings a secluded paradise. All you need to do is stroll past the throngs of beachgoers, and you’ll find an unspoiled haven with no sun loungers or umbrellas, only a panoramic vista of white sand, turquoise waters, and sheer bliss. But don’t tell anyone we told you.
  20. Karma Beach – Located within the Karma Kandara resort, this exclusive beach offers a luxurious and intimate atmosphere reminiscent of a stylish Mediterranean island. The beach attracts trendy travelers seeking exclusivity and sophistication, and the crystal-clear waters are perfect for water sports and snorkeling. The curved white sand beach is adorned with stylish beachgoers enjoying designer cocktails and playing beach volleyball. Relax under the elegant beach cabanas and indulge in delicious wood-fired pizzas from the natural bamboo restaurant. It’s truly a heavenly spot on earth.
  21. White Sand Beach – Pasir Putih, also known as White Sand Beach or Virgin Beach, is a secluded and less visited beach that requires a bit of adventure to reach. Situated on the east coast of Bali, close to Candidasa village, this beach is notable for its stunning white sand, which is a stark contrast to the black sand beaches nearby. To reach White Sand Beach, follow the dirt track indicated by the “white sand beach” sign until you reach the carpark. Here, you will find a selection of local seafood BBQ stalls that offer a perfect lunch spot with a sea view. The calm and clear waters also make it an ideal spot for swimmers.
  22. Gunung Payung – Gunung Payung, previously referred to as Secret Beach, embodies an idyllic and picturesque paradise, almost as if taken from a postcard. The beach offers immaculate white sands, clear tropical waters that are placid as a pond during low-tide, and a verdant green setting that seems to be on the edge of the world. The ascent and descent to this beach, previously an arduous 301 steps (yes, we counted), is now a smooth road hewn into the cliff, with even a shuttle bus available for easy access. There are also a few sun loungers and parasols for comfort, as well as a friendly local vendor selling refreshments. If you’re on the hunt for the top beach destination in Bali, this one should definitely be on your list.
  23. Melasti Beach – The journey leading to Melasti Beach, also known as Pantai Melasti, is just as awe-inspiring as the moment you set foot on its soft, white sands. A road has been carved out of the limestone cliff, which dramatically winds down the towering face of the rock. As you make your way down towards the shore, you’ll be greeted with a stunning panoramic view of Bali’s southernmost point, where you’ll find serene waters, white sand, and two beach clubs nestled in the heart of the scene. For the best experience, we recommend visiting during low tide, when the waters are calmer and more of the beach is visible.
  24. Dreamland Beach – Dreamland Beach, called the new Kuta Beach by many, was given its fitting name by Australians. Although it’s located in Uluwatu, far away from the bustling Kuta crowds, Dreamland has gained popularity due to its stunning bright white sands and great waves that attract surfers from all around the world. Whether you prefer building sand castles, sunbathing or getting in on the aquatic action, Dreamland Beach is sure to feel like a wonderland.
  25. Nusa Lembongan – If you’re looking to explore all of Bali’s beaches and soak up some sun, take a short 30-minute fast-boat ride from Sanur’s main harbor to the nearby island of Nusa Lembongan. As Bali’s quieter sibling, Nusa Lembongan has a range of stunning beaches that remain relatively untouched. Dream Beach is one of the most famous and beautiful beaches on the island, despite attracting a fair amount of tourist attention. However, it still can’t compete with the beaches on the mainland of Bali. To fully discover the coastline of this small island, rent a scooter and explore other popular beaches such as Mushroom Bay, Sandy Bay, and Paradise Beach – the names say it all.
  26. Nusa Penida – The breathtaking image of the emerald green cliffs towering above the turquoise waters has become an Instagram sensation. This famous spot is located on Nusa Penida, a nearby island to Nusa Lembongan that is only an hour’s boat ride away from mainland Bali. Nusa Penida is not as developed as Lembongan and is better suited for the more adventurous traveler. The island boasts winding roads, secluded bays, local cuisine, and pristine natural landscapes. While Kelingking Beach is a must-visit for that perfect Instagram photo, it’s worth exploring the rest of the island as well, including Crystal Bay, Atuh Beach, Diamond Beach, Broken Beach, and Angel’s Billabong, a naturally-formed infinity pool hidden among the rocks.
