25. A Night in Tijuana at The Shady Flamingo – Seminyak – The Shady Flamingo is a stylish lounge and cocktail bar that resembles the personal living room of Betty Hood. It perfectly complements the vibrant atmosphere of Petitenget and is the sister location of The Shady Fox and The Shady Pig (located below). The Shady Family’s distinctive mob style and Hollywood glamour are on display at this trendy venue. Once you locate this hidden cocktail spot, you’ll feel like you’ve been transported back to 1940s Los Angeles. The menu features a selection of chic Hollywood Boulevard cocktails, such as Marilyn’s Spritz, which mixes Bombay gin with St. Germain liqueur, mint, and sparkling wine, as well as a robust selection of Gangster Paradise cocktails, including Capone’s Negroni, Pablo’s Margarita, and Bugsy’s Old Fashioned. Our favorite is the Night in Tijuana, made with tequila, Mezcal, hibiscus, cilantro, and citrus. Bubbles, fancy cocktails, and vinyl music? We’ll definitely toast to that with a large glass!

26. Queen of Heart at The Shady Fox – Pererenan – If you’re in the Pererenan area, make sure to search for The Shady Fox, as it’s a hidden gem worth discovering. This bar has a vintage 1930s aesthetic and offers a nostalgic atmosphere, with its focus on glamour, roulette, and late-night games, only second to its exceptional collection of immersive, house-made cocktails. If you knock on the correct door, you’ll be granted access to The Shady Fox’s charming gaming room and have the opportunity to try their cutting-edge theatrical cocktails. You can sample the Briscola, a blend of Milagro tequila, Campari, espresso, and fortified wine, or our personal favorite, the Queen of Heart, which is made with house-distilled berry gin, cherry liqueur, clarified lime, and red wine.

27. Sexy Colada at The Shady Pig – Canggu – The Shady Pig is a lounge that specializes in experimental cocktails, taking inspiration from the roughness and glamour of the 1920s. It’s the third location of The Shady Family, alongside The Shady Fox and The Shady Flamingo, and the moment you step inside, you’re transported to Birmingham’s speakeasy atmosphere with some serious contraband cocktails on the menu. The team at The Shady Pig decided to disregard traditional cocktail-making rules and opted for a creative, experimental approach, making their own ingredients such as spirits, tinctures, syrups, and using techniques like distillation, infusions, barrel-aging, and fermentation. The result is impressive. Our personal favorite is The Shady Pig’s innovative take on the Pina Colada. It’s a deconstructed version of the classic cocktail that retains its typical flavors and ingredients while incorporating experimental and multi-layered elements. 28. Balinese Ritual at Woobar – This iconic beachfront bar located at W Bali – Seminyak exudes glamour and is one of the most fantastic places in Bali. It boasts a cool atmosphere and background tunes, creating an uber-cool vibe, along with a stunning beach view, making it an ideal spot to relax with some delicious cocktails. The bar offers an extensive list of cocktails, but our personal favorite is the Balinese Ritual, paying tribute to the daily offerings seen on Bali’s streets. This theatrical cocktail is served dramatically on a plate of smoke and made with gin, a homemade tangerine and elderflower liqueur, and dry vermouth, giving it a holy essence.

29. Bali Island Iced Teapot at Potato Head Beach Club – Seminyak – When faced with the challenge of choosing the best cocktail at this cocktail and beach club mecca, it can be overwhelming. However, we suggest starting with Potato Head’s most famous cocktails, such as the Kookaburra, which is bright and herbaceous with passionfruit foam, and the Flores Margarita, which exudes a paradise island vibe. Nevertheless, our personal favorite is the Bali Island Iced Teapot, which is both spicy and fruity. This cocktail includes mango, tea, and cola, which is then smoked and enhanced with vodka, gin, rum, pineapple arak, and orange liqueur, making it a delicious and powerful concoction.

30. The Bali Mary at The St. Regis Bali Resort – Nusa Dua – Were you aware that The St. Regis New York’s bartender Fernand Petiot came up with an exceptional recipe for a vodka and tomato juice cocktail in 1934, which he perfected at the King Cole Bar? This cocktail, known as the Bloody Mary, has now become a well-known drink and remains the signature cocktail of The St. Regis resorts, including the Bali location. The Bali Mary, a tropical version of the classic cocktail, is created using Jicama, a fruit that is highly regarded in Indonesia, and refreshing cucumber, giving it a unique flavour that takes you back to Indonesia’s early years. The cocktail is mixed with Absolut pepper vodka, jicama, cucumber, brown sugar, tomato juice, lemon, and various spices, and is best enjoyed with The St. Regis’ famous Sunday brunches.

31. Wild Turkey Negroni at 40 Thieves – Seminyak – To discover where Bali’s insiders spend their weekends, visit the dimly lit atmosphere of 40 Thieves, a speakeasy reminiscent of New York and known for its expertly crafted cocktails made by award-winning mixologists. One of their notable creations is a take on the classic Negroni that substitutes the gin with the powerful and complex Wild Turkey Bourbon. It also features Cynar, an Italian bitter made from artichokes, and Carpano Antica Formula, a luxurious sweet vermouth with a strong body. In addition, this Negroni is “thrown” rather than stirred to aerate, chill, and maintain its potency. Forget about diluted drinks – this is a daring and seductive rendition that may even surpass the original.

32. Raspberry Gin at The Lawn – Canggu – The Lawn is a beach club and bar that is popular among Canggu’s trendy crowd, who relax under stylish boho umbrellas while taking in the hipster surf scene at Batu Bolong. The club’s house-made cocktails, infused with tropical flavors that add a twist to classic recipes, are another highlight. For instance, the Spiced Colada and Kelapa Mojito are both excellent options. However, our favorite is the Raspberry Gin, which is made with Bali arak infused with citrus, raspberry puree, lemon juice, and a sweet sugar syrup. The perfect accompaniment to a spectacular Bali sunset enjoyed from a prime spot at the club.

33. Elderflower Martini at Mama San – Seminyak – Mama San is a well-known restaurant and bar in Bali that has become a popular destination for its amazing Asian food and high-quality cocktails. Their Negronis and Strawberry Basil Spritzes are always a good choice, but their Elderflower Martini is the standout for us. With sweeter and more floral notes than the traditional dry martini, it’s an elegant and delightful drink that you simply have to try. We love coming to Mama San not only for their cocktails, but also for their dinner options, making it one of our favorite spots to visit in Bali.

34. Maluku Old Fashioned at Sundara Beach Club – Jimbaran – Sundara Beach Club in Jimbaran is widely known for its stunning beachfront and infinity pool, as well as its exceptional sunset views and cocktails. Among their house-infused Arak cocktails, the Maluku Old Fashioned stands out as a particular favorite. This variation of the classic cocktail is made with bourbon, molucca spices, forest honey and angostura bitters, which adds a smokey flavor to the mix. The Maluku Old Fashioned is the perfect choice to accompany the breathtaking sunset views.

35. Lacalaca Margarita at Lacalita Bar y Cocina – Canggu – The Margarita, a popular cocktail, has been given various creative twists in many of Bali’s new Mexican-themed bars. However, Lacalita Bar y Cocina in Canggu stands out with its Jalepeño-spiced version of the classic, as it triggers a frenzy of tequila-fueled excitement. The bar serves the best spicy Margarita on the island, and it’s advisable to visit on Tuesdays to enjoy their weekly promotion of 70k Margaritas coupled with the kitchen’s 25k tacos. Avoid the gimmicky additions such as sugared plums and lavender petals.
